What is Thrive and Learn?

Established in 2024, Thrive and Learn is an online hub that blends coaching, psychology, and English language teaching. It supports individuals on their self-improvement journeys by offering unique services: one-on-one positive psychology coaching, mental health counselling, English language tutoring, and a subscription combining all three. These services are well geared toward helping individuals who identify as Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs) who often struggle with the not knowing and learning lingua franca, the whys of their feelings and behaviours, and the aimlessness and demotivation of their goals and desires.

These services are specifically designed to support individuals who identify as Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs). TCKs and ATCKs often face unique challenges, such as navigating multiple cultures, understanding their feelings and behaviours, and finding direction and motivation in their goals. Our offerings are tailored to help them overcome these obstacles and thrive.

Thrive and Learn provides accessible services beyond the limitations of physical location, fostering freedom from silos. This platform emerged from my own experience as a TCK, and that of tutoring English to clients from various countries, witnessing the unique pressures at the intersection of cultural identity, language barriers, and mental health challenges.

Who is Thrive and Learn?

Hi, my name is Obakeng Motsepe. I am the founder, coach, counsellor, and educator at Thrive and Learn. As a Level 5 TEFL educator, a positive psychology coach, and a licensed mental healthcare counsellor, I bring a wealth of experience from one-on-one English language tutoring with students and counselling in clinical settings, schools, and a rehabilitation centre.

My goal is to take a holistic approach to help individuals online succeed and attain positive well-being. Through learning English, I aim to help you improve your language skills while adopting a positive mindset and acquiring the tools needed to achieve your goals, manage external pressures, and build resilience in both your personal and professional lives.

Mental Health Counsellor

• I have accumulated in-person mental health counselling experience in South Africa across three different settings: a public clinic, a drug rehabilitation centre, and a high school.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor

• Led production for various exhibitions and product launches.

• Coordinated projects, timelines, and stakeholder communications.

• Managed and coordinated international guests and field trips.

Project Coordinator

• Provided ESL support to international primary and high school students.

• Conducted private one-on-one in-person tutoring sessions.
